Christmas lights in Alliston
Alliston is the southern end of where we hang, and it’s a lighting town for a reason most people don’t think about until January: it’s open. This is flat, farmed country, and the wind that crosses it doesn’t slow down for a subdivision. A display that would sit quietly all season in a sheltered street in town takes a different kind of beating on an exposed lot out toward the concessions.
That’s a fixing problem, not a lighting problem. Store-bought strands and plastic clips are made for a calm December; they let go in the first real blow, and then somebody is on a ladder in the cold putting them back. We cut runs to the roofline so there’s no slack to catch the wind, clip rather than staple, and hide the wiring — which is what keeps a display straight in February as well as December.
Alliston tip: prime install dates fill by early November, and returning clients get the 20% Early Elf discount for allowing an October install. Lights can go up early and stay dark until you’re ready — an October install doesn’t mean an October glow.
What it costs and what’s included
$8 per linear foot, all-inclusive — design, commercial-grade LEDs custom-cut to your home (you never buy anything), installation, free 48-hour in-season maintenance under our No-Lights-Out Guarantee, takedown after the season, and storage at our shop until next year. Most homes land between $800 and $3,500, with the average around $1,500. And 5% of every install goes to The Lighthouse in Orillia.
Alliston is at the far end of our run, so a display here needs to be big enough to carry the drive — that’s usually true of a full roofline, less so of a single tree. We’ll tell you honestly on the phone rather than after you’ve filled in a form.
